La Plume, Pa. – Marywood University jumped out to a double-digit lead within the first eight minutes en route to a 78-46 victory over Keystone College Wednesday in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball.
Natasha Hessling led the Pacers with 15 points. She made seven of 10 shots from the field.
Erika Bistran was the only other Marywood player in double figures with 12.
Gab Giordano was a point shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Keystone's Samy Farah finished with game-highs in points (16) and rebounds (12) for a double-double. Bre Moore finished with 13 points and eight boards.
Marywood made 40.9 percent of its shots. Its defense kept Keystone to just a quarter of its shot attempts. The Pacers outrebounded the Giants by a 57-44 margin. The Pacers' bench outscored the Giants 43-17.
The Pacers opened with the first six points of the contest. Nina Hodanich had the Giants first six points of the game, cutting the team's deficit to 10-5 on a 3-pointer with 6:28 left in the first quarter. A Hessling layup provided the Pacers with their first double-digit lead (18-7) but Keystone responded with a five-point run to make it a two-possession contest after Bre Moore stole the ball and went cross court for a lay-in.
Marywood never trailed by less than 10 points for the final three quarters.
The win moves Marywood back above .500 with a 10-9 overall record and 8-2 CSAC mark. Keystone drops to 3-14 overall and 2-8 in CSAC play.
Marywood is idle for a week. The Pacers will host Neumann University on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 6:00 pm.
