Men's Basketball Comes Up Empty Against Rosemont

Scranton, Pa. - Despite outshooting its opponent, Marywood University fell to Rosemont College 82-60 in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball. The Pacers outshot the Ravens 46.8-42.1 but were unable to overcome Rosemont's proficiency off the glass and from the charity stripe. 

Thomas Swartz reached double figures for the 10th consecutive game. He scored 18 points, in addition to seven rebounds. He went 6 of 10 from the floor. 

Jeremy Ringland was the only other Marywood player in double figures. Ringland came off the bench to add 11 points. 

Rosemont shot 87.5 percent from the free throw line, making 28 of 32 attempts. Conversely, the Pacers made just 12 trips to the line at a 75 percent clip. The Ravens dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Pacers by a 38-24 rate. 

Donovan Catching provided five assists for Marywood. 

Rosemont received 23 points and eight rebounds from Jalil Myers. Mekhi Clemons tallied 21 points and five assists. Both Myers and Clemons went a combined 13 for 13 from the free throw line. 

Tarrell Willis also reached double digits with 11 points. 

The Ravens outscored Marywood 27-5 off turnovers and 23-8 in second-chance points. 

Marywood (11-8, 6-7 CSAC) took an early lead on its second possession when Jack DeGroot made a 3-pointer for the team's lone lead of the afternoon. The Ravens (13-6, 9-4 CSAC) responded with an 11-point run that the Pacers were unable to dig themselves out. Swartz scored 10 consecutive points late in the first half to put the Pacers within two possessions. He hit a 3-pointer in the corner from Kendall Farrell to trim the lead to 31-25 with 2:05 left in the half. Rosemont went on a six-point run, and Clemons tipped in a shot to ensure a double-digit lead at half. 

The Pacers host Neumann on the second leg of a doubleheader on Wednesday at 8:00 pm.
