Giordano Nears Triple-Double to lead Pacers to Second-Half Comeback Win

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University junior guard Gab Giordano was an assist and a rebound short of a triple-double in a 70-57 victory over Keystone College on Tuesday in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball action. The Pacers won their third consecutive game to put coach Tara Macciocco three wins short of 200 for her career. 

Giordano's nine assists tied a school record twice set by Alexa Gerchman '16. She had 13 points and nine rebounds. 

Erika Bistran posted a team-best 18 points. Her made four of eight 3-pointers as part of seven field goals made. 

Alyssa Olson and Aryah Aungst finished with 12 points. Natasha Hessling produced eight rebounds. 

Marywood has won 19 consecutive games in the month of January. The Pacers have not lost a game in the month since a loss to Immaculata on Jan. 31, 2015.

The Pacers came back from a five-point deficit at halftime. Marywood shot 56.3 percent the field in the third quarter to get back on track. Cait Reilly did a spin move for the third time to help the Pacers retake the lead at 37-36, capping a 7-1 run. After trading a pair of one-point leads, Aryah Aungst provided the Pacers with a two-point advantage off of a shot from beyond the arc. Keystone's Bre Moore evened the score at 42-42. Catie Nealon drained a long-range shot with 3:06 left in the third to kickstart the Pacers' ascent to victory. 

Marywood broke the game open midway through the fourth quarter with an 11-2 spurt that turned a five-point advantage into a 14-point cushion with 4:09 remaining.

The Giants were led by a 19-point performance from Nina Hodanich. Keystone received 18 points from Moore. Maddy Moro was a point shy of a double-double with 10 rebounds. 

Marywood (6-8, 4-1 CSAC) looks for its fourth straight win on Thursday when it hosts Cedar Crest College at 7:00 pm.
