Early Goal Stifles Men's Soccer in Conference Loss

Scranton, Pa. – The Marywood University dropped a 2-0 match to Wesley College Saturday in atlantic East Conference men's soccer action. The Pacers allowed a goal in the second minute and were unable to provide an equalizer before the Wolverines' late insurance tally.

Just 86 seconds into regulation, Danny Garza connected on a 14-yard blast from the left perimeter.

The Pacers held Wesley scoreless until the 72nd minute. Deekai Gbonimy made a shot from 25 yards out after a ball was misplayed by a defender.

Marywood's best chance at an equalizer came in the 27th minute. Giovanni Amato broke through for a 1 v. 1 opportunity. His shot sailed wide right of the net.

The Pacers survived a penalty kick opportunity in the 28th minute. Luis Cruz's PK attempt went wide.

Mike Gallagher made nine saves against the Wolverines. Marywood did not register a shot on target. Wesley outshot the Pacers 21-8.

Marywood looks to get its first Atlantic East victory on Oct. 20 when it travels to Arlington, Va. to face Marymount University.
