Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lycoming Tops Men's Basketball for Dutch Burch Title

Williamsport, Pa. - Host Lycoming College held off Marywood University down the stretch to claim the Dutch Burch tournament championship with a 89-82 win over the Pacers.  Marywood (1-1) got a game-high 25 points from Jeremy Ringland and 19 from Thomas Swartz.

Swartz was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Warriors (2-0) built what seemed to be a comfortable 11-point (39-28) lead at the half, but the Pacers outscored the hosts 54-50 in the second half to make a game of it.

Darius Dangerfield and Markanthony Fidelis each had 21 for Lycoming. D'Yante Doughty added 18 and tournament MVP Darius James had 15 as the four players combined for 75 of the Warriors' points on the night. Dangerfield was also on the All-Tournament team.

Marywood shot 46% from the floor compared to Lycoming's 45%, but the Warriors had a 44-28 advantage on the boards, including a 14-4 lead in offensive boards, as they converted those for 14 second change points.  The Warriors also had 27 points off 15 Marywood turnovers, and, despite turning the ball over 18 times themselves, limited Marywood to 13 points off those miscues.

After shooting 36.4% (8 of 22) from the floor in the first half, Marywood caught fire in the second, hitting 15 of their 28 attempts (53.6%) from the floor in the stanza.

Other All-Tournament players were Hunter Schenkel from the College of New Rochelle and Khari Thompson from Penn State Schuylkill.

Marywood returns to action Wednesday night when they host Penn State Lehigh Valley in their home opener.  Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm in the Insalaco Arena.
