Four in Double Figures Lead Marywood to Win Over Hunter

Newark, N.J. - Tone Cockrell had a game high 21 points and Jeremy Ringland set a new single-game record with eight blocks as Marywood (3-1) cruised to a 83-58 win over Hunter College (1-1) in the opening game of the John K. Adams Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Rutgers-Newark.

Ringland's new record broke John Cowan's nearly 16-year old mark of seven stuffs in a single game which came on January 9, 2003 versus Swarthmore.

The Pacers will face the host Scarlet Knights Sunday at 3:00 pm for the tournament title.

Cockrell's game high effort came from 50% shooting from the floor which included three treys. Cockrell also went 10-of-12 on the charity stripe.  Three others reached double figures for Marywood as Thomas Swartz had 15, Ringland had 11 and Adam Boussatta added 10.

Hunter College was led by Gio Gabbidon's 15 point effort.

Marywood's bench outscored that of their opponents 44-11.  The Pacers hit over 45% of their shots from the floor and limited Hunter to 31.9% shooting.

Hunter led by nine (13-4) just three and a half minutes in but from there it was all Marywood.  The Pacers went on a 13-0 run to take a 17-13 lead and would not relinquish it from there.  Marywood went up by as many as 15 (37-22) in the first half and went into the break with a 12-point 43-31 advantage.

The Pacers outscored Hunter 9-4 over the opening five minutes of the second to extend their lead to 50-37 and would outscore Hunter 40-27 in the second stanza to cruise to their third win in four games.
