Swartz's Season High Leads Marywood to Win

Scranton, Pa. - Thomas Swartz had a season high 27 points to help Marywood dismantle former conference foe Clarks Summit University 97-61 Wednesday evening. The win moves Marywood to 5-3 while the Defenders remain winless at 0-7.

Swartz was efficient all evening, scoring 13 points in the opening 11 minutes of the game.  He went on to shoot 11 of 14 from the floor, including five of seven from three point range, in just over 27 minutes of action.  

The Pacers shot 58.6% from the floor in the opening half as they built a 27-point, 47-20 lead at the break.  The Pacers remained hot from the floor in the second, hitting nearly 53% of their shots.  

Despite the final score, Clarks Summit did manage 30 points in the paint and shot 61.9% from the floor in the second half.  Marywood's defense limited the visitors to just 31.3% shooting in the first.  Marywood hit 17 of 34 three's for the game, a season high in three's made.  

Clarks Summit had five players in double figures led by three players (Reed Plantz, Michael Leak and Marcus Dixon) with 12.  Zach Tinkham had 11 for Marywood and was one of 13 of 17 rostered players to score. Marywood led by as many as 39 with 4:52 to play in the game. The Pacers forced 21 turnovers and scored 32 points off of them.  The Pacers' bench outscored that of the Defenders, 30-4.

Marywood will host Keystone College December 4 at 7:00 pm.
