Men's Lacrosse Falls Flat to Monarchs' Defense

Scranton, Pa. – King's College scored eight consecutive goals to down Marywood University 9-2 on Wednesday in men's lacrosse. The Pacers' record evens to 2-2, and the Monarchs now stand at 1-1 on the year.

King's kept the Pacers scoreless for 40 minutes of play.

Riley Litman and Matt Casto each had five ground balls for the Pacers. Rob Maini and Austin Maylor scored a goal apiece.

King's goalkeeper Matt Basile made 12 saves and only yielded two goals.

Maini opened the scoring with 7:37 left in the first period. Marywood's lead lasted just 28 seconds when Shawn Dickey squared the score at one apiece. Brock Johnson and Omar Nijmeh each supplied a Monarchs' goal in the first quarter to extend their lead to 3-1.

Marywood did not score again until 12:38 left in regulation when Zach Beja found Austin Maylor.

King's had a five point game from Brock Johnson with four goals and an assist. Nimje and Dickey both scored a pair of goals. Trevor Douenais scooped five ground balls.

Marywood will host Stockton University on Saturday afternoon.
