1,000 POINTS: Giordano Hits Career Milestone

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University junior Gab Giordano became the 14th player in program history to reach 1,000 points for her career. The Pacers upended Centenary University 90-77 on Thursday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball action. 

Giordano scored a career-high 30 in the win. She reached the career feat in the fourth quarter on a free throw attempt. Giordano stands at 1,001 points for her career. She made 10 field goals and four 3-pointers to couple with four assists. 

Erika Bistran notched her first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Alyssa Olson made all six of her attempts for 12 points. Lisa Steakin also came off the bench with 10 points in 15 minutes. 

Natasha Hessling tallied a season-best 14 rebounds. Catie Nealon provided six assists. 

Marywood (12-10, 10-3 CSAC) trailed throughout the first quarter into the second after the Cyclones shot 64 percent from the field in the first stanza. After the Cyclones led 34-30 with 6:30 left in the second quarter, Bistran kicked off a run with a layup in the paint from Aryah Aungst. Aungst set up a 3-pointer from Steaking to take a 35-34 with 5:52. 

After a Nicole Carataino free throw cut the Pacers' lead to two, Marywood finished off the final 4:34 of the first half on a 14-point streak. Aungst made a layup in the paint just before the buzzer to go into halftime with a 53-37 lead. 

Marywood made 45.8 percent of its shots, holding the Cyclones to a 43.3 percent figure. The Pacers outrebounded Cenentary 49-35 with 17 offensive board. 

Amber Reseinwitz and Nicole Cartaino each had 18 points for Centenary. Julia Presant had 15 points. 

The Pacers have a key CSAC North matchup against Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday on the road.
