Men's Lacrosse Comes Up Empty to St. Mary's (Md.) in Tornado Rematch

St. Mary's City, Md. – In a rematch of last year's thrilling win that was delayed by a tornado, Marywood University put itself into an early deficit in a 15-5 loss to St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday to begin its spring break. The Pacers yielded the first five goals of the game to the Seahawks and trailed 8-2 at halftime.

Austin Maylor led the Pacers with a goal and two assists. Matt Mitarotonda provided two goals. Zach Vaughan contributed a pair of assists.

Riley Litman garnered five ground balls and won 13 of 24 faceoff chances. Vinny Biancardi made 13 saves.

Max Groen started a five-goal run for St. Mary's with seven minutes gone by in the first period. He rounded up his hat trick in the first 13 minutes of the game.

Mitarotonda put Marywood on the scoreboard for the first time with four seconds in the frame to cut the deficit to 5-1.

St. Mary's towered the Pacers in ground balls by a 39-21 margin. The Pacers went eight for 13 on clear attempts.

Marywood (3-3) heads to Utica College on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
