Washington (Md.) Takes Opening Series From Pacers in Florida

Fort Pierce, Fla. - Washington College (Md.) took both ends of a doubleheader from Marywood University, 10-3 and 8-3, as the Pacers (1-3) opened their annual spring break trip at Lawnwood Complex in Fort Pierce, Florida.  Washington improved to 9-2 on the year with the wins.

In the opener, Washington used a five-run second and three-run sixth to claim the win.  Marywood was led offensively by Michael Tempel, who had a two-run double in the second.  Trevor Powers brought home the other run for the Pacers.  

Three pitchers saw action, with Pasquale Mandarano taking the loss after allowing six runs on nine hits over 1.2 innings of work.  Jerry Hobbs and Nathan Michener also pitched for Marywood.

In the nightcap, Jake Schuster, (2-for-4), Andrew Lewis and Scott Becker accounted for the Pacers' RBIs in the 8-3 loss.  Joey Castellani (1-1) suffered the loss after allowing six earned runs over five innings. Castellani struck out five in the loss.  Alex Ferriola pitched two scoreless innings in relief, allowing just two hits while fanning one.

Matt Higgins, Powers and Schuster all had a pair of hits for Marywood in the nightcap.  

Marywood returns to action tomorrow when they take on Norwich University (Vt.) in a twinbill beginning at 10:00 am.
