Offense Explodes as Marywood Sweeps Norwich

Vero Beach, Fla. - Marywood University's bats awoke as the Pacers took both ends of a doubleheader from Norwich University to even their record at 3-3 on the year.  Marywood opened with a 6-0 shutout win before exploding for a season high run output in an 18-3 win in game two.

Salvatore Monello (1-0) pitched six innings of four-hit ball and struck out three to lead the Pacers in the opener.  Jake Schuster was 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored in the win.  Marywood scored three times in both the third and sixth as they outhit their opponents 10-4 in the game.

Trevor Powers (2-for-4) and Mitch Clemons (2-for-3) also had multiple hits in the opening game win.  Colin Maldonato pitched one inning of relief to close out the win.

In the nightcap, Marywood's bats stayed hot as they scored seven runs in the first and all 18 runs over the opening four innings to cruise to the win.  Marywood had 18 hits in game two, including another double from Schuster and a homer from Anthony Navaro.  Schuster finished game two 4-for-5 at the plate with two RBI while John Mandarano was 4-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored.

Navaro went 3-for-5 and had a game high six RBI as well as Marywood's first homer of the year, a grand slam in the first inning of game two.  Navaro's six RBI were one shy of the program record seven, established on two separate occassions.

Billy McAuliffe (1-1) got the win, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out two.  Jared Dunkle came on for the final two innings, allowing one run on one hit.
