Women's Lacrosse Braves Frigid Temps, Winds in Loss to Royals

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University returned home to fall to The University of Scranton 15-4 on Wednesday in non-conference women's lacrosse. The Royals held the Pacers scoreless throughout the first half.

Caitlin Watson finished with a hat trick for the Pacers. Zoe Simeone scored the other Marywood (2-5) goal.

Watson matched Molly Yelencsics with a game-high four ground balls. Erin Healy and Gwyneth Gleason each had an assist.

Both Marywood's Mary Leahy and Scranton's Erin Putnam finished with 10 saves.

Despite the scoreboard, Scranton only outshot the Pacers by a 29-21 margin. Both teams had identical turnovers (18) and similar clear attempts. Marywood won the ground ball game by a 26-18 advantage.

The Royals received a hat trick from Elena Gallo and Kaitlyn Murphy. Jill Henson and Bridget Lalley each had three points. Kate Calabro secured 10 draws.

Marywood opens Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Saturday with a huge tilt against Immaculata University. The Pacers host the Mighty Macs at 1 p.m.
