Women's Tennis Punches First Win of the Year at Rosemont

Rosemont, Pa. – Marywood University earned its first women's tennis victory of the season with a 9-0 shutout of Rosemont College Saturday in the Colonial States Athletic Conference opener. The Pacers won all six singles matches in two sets.

Danielle Ogonowski won the first singles by 6-2, 6-2 scores over Julianna Capece. Abygail Doud secured 6-3, 6-3 wins over the Ravens' Chase Leonard in the No. 2 singles.

Emily Zarrilli and Deena Mahdavi both shut out their opponent in the fourth and fifth singles, respectively. Nicole Sinclair (No. 3 singles) and Emily Edwards (No. 6 singles) both earned 6-0, 6-1 wins.

In the most closely contested match of the afternoon, Ogonowski and Doud outlasted Capece-Leonard to a 9-8 (4) win in the top flight doubles. Zarrilli and Zombek cruised to an 8-1 win in the second doubles.

The Pacers had a win by default in the No. 3 doubles.

Marywood hosts Keystone College on Tuesday.
