Albright Tops Marywood in Baseball Action, 5-2

Reading, Pa. - Host Albright College scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and fended off Marywood the rest of the way to earn a 5-2 win in non-conference baseball action Tuesday afternoon.  The Pacers fell to 1-1 on the year while the host Lions improved to 1-0.

Logan Adams brought home three runs with a double to right center in the first, giving the Lions all the runs they would need to secure the win.  Marywood answered with a run in the third when Trevor Powers scored on an error after tripling, but Albright regained their three-run lead in the fourth when the Pacers walked in a run with the bases loaded.

Marywood cut the lead to 4-2 in the fifth with a RBI triple from Jake Schuster that scored Kevin McDonough.  Albright closed the scoring in the sixth with an RBI single from Austin Roth.

Billy McAuliffe (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing the opening three runs, despite striking out six over just three innings of work.  Shaun O'Reilly got the win in relief for the Lions, and Daron Pijanowski earned a save.

Marywood returns to action in Florida over spring break next week where the Pacers will play eight games, starting with a twinbill against Washington College (Md.) Monday.
