Pacers' Winning Streak Halted by Susquehanna Defense

Selinsgrove, Pa. - The Marywood University men's lacrosse team had its four-game winning streak halted in a 10-4 loss Tuesday to non-conference rival Susquehanna University. The River Hawks opened the game with the first four goals. 

Luke Shedler scored two goals for the Pacers. Matt Casto and Austin Maylor each added a goal. 

Vinny Biancardi made 13 saves and picked up five ground balls. 

Susquehanna caused 13 turnovers to the Pacers' five. The River Hawks led Marywood in ground balls (32-19), faceoff wins (12-6), and shots (33-23). Just nine of the Pacers' 23 shots went on target. 

The River Hawks scored four uncontested goals in the first 12 minutes. Casto gave some life for the Pacers with a goal from Zach Beja with 39 seconds left in the opening stanza. 

Susquehanna responded with two more goals from Jake Smolokoff to go ahead by a 6-1 score. 

Andrew Porzio scored four times for Susquehanna. Pierce Mead won two-thirds of the faceoffs and gathered six ground balls. 

Marywood will host rival Gwynedd Mercy University in a pivotal CSAC game.
