Fourteen Straight Goals Highlight Women's Lacrosse Win over Griffins

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - Five Marywood University players scored hat tricks in a dominant 22-7 win over Gwynedd Mercy University Tuesday in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action. The Pacers (7-5, 5-0 CSAC) won their fifth consecutive game. 

After falling behind 2-1 in the first six minutes, Marywood scored 14 unanswered goals over a 15-minute span to institute the running clock. 

Erin Healy led all Pacers with six points on three goals and three assists. Sam Bussinelli matched her with four goals and two assists.  

Gina Babcock factored in with four goals and an assist. Faith Grieshaber enjoyed a career day in her newfound role on the attack with three goals and two assists. 

Gwyneth Gleason provided the team with three goals, two assists for five points. She also provided team bests in caused turnovers (three) and draw controls (10). 

Michaela DiLorenzo, Haley Risi and Sami Stein each caused a pair of turnovers. 

Marywood was also aided by Zoe Simeone's two goals and Caitlin Watson's two points. 

Gwynedd Mercy went on top in the early going, thanks to a pair of goals by Victoria Braeunle. Babcock jumpstarted the 13-goal run with a goal at 22:10 to even the score at two apiece. Seventy-four seconds later, Babcock gave the Pacers the lead on another unassisted goal. 

Marywood outshot Gwynedd Mercy by a 30-16 clip with all but four Pacers' shots being on target. Marywood went 14 of 18 on clear attempts and had a 15-10 advantage in ground balls. The Pacers kept the nation's leading draw controller in check by winning 16-14 attempts. 

Mary Leahy made a pair of saves in 39 minutes of work. Mallory Perry had one save. 

The Pacers seek to keep the winning streak alive when they head to CSAC foe Neumann University Saturday at noon.
