Women's Lacrosse Keeps Perfect CSAC Record in 19-9 Win over Giants

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University remained undefeated in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's lacrosse play in a 19-9 victory over Keystone College on Tuesday amid a graupel storm. The Pacers (9-5, 7-0) won their seventh straight game, all of which have been decided by 10 or more goals.

Marywood prepares for a Saturday showdown against Cabrini University with the top spot in the conference on the line. The Pacers have secured a first round bye.

The Pacers scored the first nine goals of the game. Keystone halved the lead to 10-5 at halftime. Marywood responded with the first seven goals of the second half.

Sam Bussinelli tallied seven points for the second-straight game with four goals and three assists.

Fresh off of reaching the 100 point plateau for her career, Gwyneth Gleason provided the Pacers with five points on two goals and three assists. She also contributed five ground balls and five draw controls.

Molly Yelencsics matched Gleason with five draw controls, many in the early minutes of the game. She also totaled two caused turnovers and two goals.

Gina Babcock posted a game-high six ground balls. She scored three goals and an assist.

Erin Healy also manufactured a hat trick along with two caused turnovers. Faith Grieshaber generated a goal and two assists.

Marywood welcomed two point performances from Zoe Simeone (1g-1a) and Caitlin Watson (2g). Michaela DiLorenzo scooped five ground balls, and Kylie Winton reveled in second half draw opportunities with four.

Facing below-freezing wind chills, Marywood had everything in order for the first 25 minutes. Bussinelli scored a mere seven seconds into the contest. Watson scored twice in a 90-second period to extend the Pacers' lead to five.

After Yelencsics put the Pacers within one of the running clock, Keystone found its rhythm by outscoring the Pacers 5-1 in the last six minutes of the first half. Nina Hodanich ended the Pacers' hopes of a second-straight clean sheet against the Giants at 5:31. Emily Hawkins assisted a Savanna Robinson goal to cut the Pacers' lead to 10-5 and reach the 200 point plateau for her career.

Out of the break, Marywood resorted back to its highly offensive, defensively robust routine. Healy opened the second half with back-to-back goals within 1:09 of each other. Bussinelli scored three straight times within less than four minutes to start the running clock at 23:18. Babcock bookended the Pacers' run on a Grieshaber pass for the largest lead of the game (17-5) with 16:29 remaining in the game.

Keystone again found life by outscoring the Pacers 4-1 and getting back to within single digits on Hawkins' goal from Robinson with 4:17 left. Marywood's Grieshaber connected on a Natalie Walker pass just before the end of regulation.

Marywood outshot the Giants by a 40-18 margin. The Giants were successful on just 9-of-18 clear attempts, and Marywood went 12 for 17. The Pacers won both ground balls (29-20) and draw controls (17-9).

Hawkins had a goal and six assists for Keystone. Hodanich scored four times.

Marywood squares off with Cabrini on Saturday at 1:00 pm. It also marks the team's Senior Day for its seven graduating players. The winner will received the No. 1 seed in the tournament.
