Baseball Dominates Clarks Summit, 18-7

Scranton, Pa. - Jake Schuster had a homer, double and four RBI and Scott Becker had a double and four RBI as well as the Marywood baseball team cruised to a 18-7 win over Clarks Summit Monday.  Marywood remained alive in the playoff hunt.

Marywood, who will need some help from other teams to qualify as the fourth and final seed, moves to 15-16 (5-8 CSAC) on the year.  Clarks Summit is now 0-26 (0-13 CSAC). The Pacers must win their remaining three games against Clarks Summit (Wednesday, 3:30 pm) and at Cabrini (doubleheader Saturday) and get some help from others.

Playing as the away team in their own park and tied 2-2 after three innings of play, Marywood broke the game open with a seven-run fourth then added nine more of the next three innings to account for all their scoring.  The Pacers had 21 hits on the day, coming four shy of the single-game program record and one shy of tying for fourth most ever in a game.

Morgan Theobald went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and three runs scored as well.  Trevor Powers was 3-for-5 with a triple and pair of RBI.  Austin Takvor, Schuster, Becker, Kevin McDonough, and Theobald all doubled, coming two shy of the program record seven doubles in a singe game.

Billy McAuliffe (2-2) got the win, striking out five over five innings.

The Pacers will host the Defenders again Wednesday at 3:30 pm.
