Women's Tennis Falls to Gwynedd Mercy

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – Marywood's women's tennis lost their first Colonial State Athletic Conference match up of the season today at Gwynedd Mercy, 9-0.  The Pacers slipped to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in the league with the loss while the defending CSAC champions improved to 7-2 and remained unbeaten in the league with a 5-0 mark.
 
The Griffins got things start right away in doubles competition with the team of Katie Garthaus and Amanda Goff downed the Pacers' duo of Danielle Ogonowski and Abby Doud, 8-1. In the third set of doubles Gwynedd's Jenna Trythalland and Nikki Diaz secured their victory 8-1 over Nicole Sinclair and Brooke Panek.
 
Gwynedd continued their success in singles competition where Katie Garthaus defeated Marywood's Danielle Ogonowski (6-0, 6-1). Marywood's Deena Mahdavi put up a tough fight against Nikki Diaz falls 6-2 and 6-4 in their two sets.
 
The Pacers match with Neumann tomorrow is postponed but will face Notre Dame of Maryland on Sunday. That match will be played indoors in Kingston at the Wyoming Valley Indoor Tennis courts.
