Men's Lacrosse Piles On Late Goals to Surpass Cyclones

Hackettstown, N.J. – Marywood University scored three unanswered goals to break open a fourth period tie for a 7-4 Colonial States Athletic Conference men's lacrosse victory Saturday over Centenary University. The Pacers tallied the winning goals in the final 11 minutes.

Tied 4-4, Rob Maini scored the game-winner with 10:08 remaining on an assist from Austin Maylor.

The Pacers (7-4, 4-0 CSAC) held onto their slim one-goal lead until they piled on two late goal in the last three minutes. Matt Mitarotonda found the net on a man-up opportunity from Matt Casto with 2:59 left. With 1:38 on the scoreboard, Luke Shedler put the game away with a goal from Maylor.

Marywood had a 4-1 lead at halftime. Centenary scored three straight goals over a 12 minute span to even the game at four apiece. Nolan Gottshall squared the game with an unassisted tally with 12:24 left in the contest.

Maini and Casto finished with two goals and an assist. Mitarotonda scored twice, and Maylor had a pair of late-game assists.

Riley Litman won seven of 14 faceoff chances. Justin Einwechter managed three ground balls, and Seth D'Ver produced three caused turnovers.

Vinny Biancardi was victorious in net with seven saves and just four goals-allowed.

Nolan Gottshall had an assist for the Cyclones (3-5, 2-2 CSAC).

Marywood edged Centenary 27-24 in shots and 18-17 in ground balls. The Pacers converted two of five extra-man chances.

The Pacers travel to Susquehanna University on Tuesday.
