Men's Soccer Comes Short to St. Joseph's (L.I.)

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University sophomore Zac Lloyd scored the ninth goal of his career in the Pacers' 3-1 loss to St. Joseph's College (Long Island) Thursday in men's soccer action. The Pacers outshot the Golden Eagles by a 17-14 margin.

The Pacers post their first goal of the season in the 78th minute. Carlos Perez flung a ball in the air with his head to Lloyd on the right side. Lloyd hit a strike from 7 yards out to cut the deficit to just one goal (2-1).

St. Joseph's responded right away with a screamer in the 81st minute. Rayneri Ruiz found the top-right corner from 30 yards out for the Golden Eagles' third goal.

Ruiz finished with a pair of goals. Teammate Damian Duda had a goal and an assist.

St. Joseph's scored twice in the first 20 minutes of regulation. In the ninth minute, Duda sent a cross from the left wing to Ruiz for a one-timer in the box. In the 20th minute, Duda capitalized on a defensive miscue within 18 yards for a 1-on-1 put-away chance.

Marywood outshot St. Joseph's 11-6 in the second half. Laurence Graziano's 20-yard strike in the 85th minute was tapped away from the Golden Eagles' keeper. Ryan Atcavage was thwarted in the 88th by the visiting keeper.

The Pacers' Mike Gallagher finished with three saves. His counterpart Tyler Flaherty made six stops.

Marywood (0-3) looks to get in the win column Saturday when it travels to Albright College.
