Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lloyd's Hat Trick Puts Men's Soccer on Top in Overtime

Reading, Pa. - Marywood University sophomore Zac Lloyd finished a hat trick with a game-winning goal in overtime on Saturday in non-conference men's soccer action. Lloyd supplied the Pacers with a 4-3 overtime victory over Albright College.

Lloyd took control of a loose ball in the box and fired it into the net in the 100th minute for an unassisted goal. He becomes the seventh player in program history with a hat trick. It is the first time a player has achieved the feat since Daniel Hull's four-goal game against Baptist Bible College in 2013.

Coach John Velasco captured his first victory at the helm at Marywood.

Ian Goodale opened the scoring with his first career goal in the seventh minute. Goodale headed a Tom Cuffari corner kick for the Pacers' first lead of the season.

Lloyd doubled the Pacers' lead in the 31st minute. His shot deflected off of the goalkeeper, providing a second chance opportunity for his first tally of the match.

After being held scoreless through the first half, Albright found offense in the 54th minute with a goal from Billy Hanratty. He took an Anthony Parlato feed to the net after the Pacers' goalkeeper was drawn out on a rush.

Merely 89 seconds later, Lloyd regained the Pacers' two-goal lead. Ryan Atcavage had his second career assist on a Lloyd shot that deflected off of a defender.

Shortly after, in the 57th minute, Albright halved the deficit with a corner kick goal of its own by Parlato from Eric Adamo.

Marywood goalkeeper Mike Gallagher kept the lead intact in the 61st minute. He made a stop on a Jared Leckburg penalty kick. Twenty minutes later, Leckburg had his second chance at a penalty kick and delivered the equalizer.

Gallagher finished with four saves for his first career victory. Albright keeper Brendan Hanratty made seven saves.

Marywood outshot Alrbight by an 18-15 margin and 11-7 on target. Albright had a 7-4 advantage.

The Pacers have won their past two overtime contests. Marywood defeated Rosemont 2-1 on Oct. 14, 2017.

Marywood heads to the Old Line State to face Hood College on Wednesday in Frederick, Md.
