Men's Soccer Stymied by Manhattanville, 3-0

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University dropped a 3-0 match to Manhattanville College Saturday in non-conference men's soccer. The Pacers fall to 1-5 on the season, while the Valiants improve to 6-2 on the year.

Marius Nicolaysen scored a pair of goals from Nico Diaz. Nicolaysen put Manhattanville ahead in the 21st minute on a header from 12 yards out to the right corner of the goal. Later in the 29th minute, the two teamed up again when Diaz played a ball back in front of the goal and Nicolaysen blasted it 18 yards into the net.

Manhattanville tallied its third goal in the 75th minute. Jacob Zlobinsky scored from 19 yards out on a ball delivered from the left perimeter by Dylan Akay.

Marywood goalkeeper Mike Gallagher made eight saves in the losing effort. Michael Donato made one save in two minutes of work.

The Valiants keeper Charles Roberts earned a clean sheet with five saves.

Zac Lloyd had a pair of shots on goal. Marywood's best chances came in the 58th and 59th minutes. Richard Fuchs had a shot that was stopped by Roberts, and Lloyd's header was stymied by the keeper.

Marywood returns back to the pitch in two days to take on Berkeley (N.Y.) on Monday at 4 p.m.
