Vossler Reaches 1,000 Career Digs in Five-Set Win over CSU

Clarks Summit, Pa. – Marywood University came back from two sets down to defeat Clarks Summit University 3-2 Saturday in non-conference women's volleyball. The Pacers move to 6-4 overall on the season and won six of their past seven matches.

Marywood won by scores of 22-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-10. The Pacers have won all three of their five-set matches on the season.

Junior libero Jordan Vossler became just the second student-athlete in school history to reach 1,000 digs. With 21 in the match, Vossler jumped to second place all-time with 1,004 digs for her career. She also led the team with five aces.

Gabriella Santos returned to the lineup with 15 kills – the third time she's reached 15 or more in a match this season. Santos also had eight digs.

Mikayla Attwood had seven solo blocks. Sara Burgos provided 36 assists and 12 digs.

Peri Sheerin reached double figures offensively with 12 kills. Sam Compton garnered 10 digs and eight kills.

In the fifth set, Marywood trailed 8-7 before scoring five straight points on Annie Heyen serves. The Pacers took a 9-8 advantage on a Nicole Cashman kills and added to their lead with a Heyen ace. The Defenders cut the deficit to 12-10, but Compton returned the serve back to the Forest Green and Gold with a kill. Compton closed out the match with a kill off of a blocking error.

Marywood hosts its first tri-match of the year Thursday when it welcomes Misericordia University and Penn College.
