Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Early Goals Limit Men's Soccer in 4-0 Loss to York

Scranton, Pa. – The Marywood University men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 shutout to York College of Pennsylvania on a rainy Wednesday night. The Pacers conceded two early goals and were unable to find the net in spite of 11 shots.

The Spartans' Zion Friday scored twice within the first 95 seconds. Friday's two goals came within 44 seconds of each other.

After York peppered three shots on target in the first 1:35, Marywood outshot the Spartans 5-3 for the remaining 43 minutes of the first half.

Nathan Bilbie found the net in the 47th minute on a Isiah Dorsey give that found its way through two defenders, creating an open lane in the middle for a 14 yard shot.

York closed its scoring when Travis Gould collapsed on a rebound off of a Tony Mosquiera left-footed shot that was saved by the Marywood keeper in the 64th minute.

Marywood had three shots on goal in a six-minute timeframe. Ian Byrnes, Laurence Graziano and Dominic DeGeorge each had scoring threats with the wet ball but keeper Billy Bridegum kept the ball out of the net.

The Spartans outshot Marywood by a 15-11 margin and 10-6 on goal. York had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Mike Gallagher made four saves. Michael Donato made one stop in the closing minutes, and there was a team save.

Marywood will host Gwynedd Mercy University on Oct. 3 in the Atlantic East Conference opener.
