Scranton, Pa. - The Marywood University men's soccer was shut out 2-0 on Monday by Wilkes University. Head coach John Velasco made his coaching debut with the Pacers.

A string of thunderstorms delayed the start of the game by two hours. A lightning delay postponed kickoff shortly after player introductions were announced.

Marywood's defense kept Wilkes scoreless throughout the first half.

The Colonels broke through in the 49th minute. Gabriel Nieves delivered a 10 yard blast from the right side. The ball was served by Shane Henehan along the left sideline.

Andrew Reichard doubled the Colonels' lead on a penalty kick opportunity in the 56th minute.

Making his second career start, Mike Gallagher made two saves in net for the Pacers. His counterpart Tim Gallagher (no relation) earned the clean sheet.

Wilkes outshot the Pacers by a 20-7 margin. The Colonels held Marywood to without a shot on target. Wilkes had 10 corner kicks to the Pacers' three.

Marywood hits the road on Saturday to face Stockton University in Pomona, N.J.
