Mechanicsburg, Pa. - Marywood University survived three close sets to post a 3-0 victory over Penn State Harrisburg Wednesday in non-conference women's volleyball. It marked the Pacers' first victory of the season, and its first win this early in the season since 2014.
Marywood scratched out a 25-22, 25-23, 25-22 victory over the Lions. The Pacers had a .190 attack percentage for the match.
The box score nearly mirrored each other for both teams in points, kills, aces, and assists. The Pacers' defense outshined the Lions by a 37-23 margin.
Jordan Vossler led the Pacers with 13 digs and four aces.
Sam Compton provided eight digs.
Peri Sheerin had a season-high seven kills and three block assists. Both
Ashley King and
Gabriella Santos totaled six kills. King committed just one error for a .417 attack percentage.
Sara Burgos provided the team with 26 assists.
Penn State Harrisburg's Melanie Sheaffer tallied 13 kills in an errorless game for an outstanding .765 attack percentage. Kari Ammerman garnered 11 digs.
Marywood will take a week off until it hosts Keystone College on Sept. 12 in a rematch of last year's five-set thriller.
