Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Four Unanswered Goals Keep LVC Unbeaten

Scranton, Pa. - For the second straight game Marywood University scored first but Lebanon Valley College had four unanswered tallies as the visiting Dutchmen beat the Pacers 4-1 in non-conference women's soccer action Wednesday evening in Scranton.

The win moves LVC to 2-0-1 on the young season while Marywood falls to 0-2.

Kassandra Riemer scored for the second time in as many games and put the Pacers up 1-0 in the 10th minute of action.  Riemer found a loose ball on top of the visitor's 18 yard box, spun around a defender and lofted a shot over the keeper to put the home team up.

A dangerous direct kick from the left corner of Marywood's 18 floated towards the back post 10 minutes later, and resulted in an own goal as a Marywood defender attempting to clear the ball had it skip backward into the net.

LVC would then go up 2-1 as Katie Goldsmith got in behind the Pacers' defense and went on a breakaway in the 30th minute.  The Dutchmen would carry the 2-1 edge into the break despite being out-shot by Marywood 8-4 in the opening stanza.

The second half flipped shooting opportunities, as the visitors took 11 to Marywood's two.  That would result in two more goals, the first coming on another breakaway for Goldsmith and the latter coming on a near-post header by Maya Cohen off a Bridgett Finn corner kick.

For the game, LVC out-shot Marywood 15-10, putting 10 on goal to four for the Pacers.  Aly Moyer made six saves in the loss while Serena Donmeyer made three in the win despite giving up her first goal of the season.

Marywood travels to nearby Wilkes (0-1) for a 12:00 pm Saturday game.
