Men's Basketball Remains Perfect in Atlantic East with 77-66 Win

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University's men's basketball team picked up their 12th win of the season and remained unbeaten in Atlantic East Conference play with a 77-66 win over Neumann University Wednesday evening.

The Pacers (12-5, 4-0 AEC) had four players in double figures, led by Jaden Rhoden who had a team-high 20 points.  Neumann University dropped to 9-6 (0-4 AEC) and remain the only team in the conference without a league win. Marywood, meanwhile, moved in a first-place tie with Gwynedd Mercy, who is also 4-0.

Jeremy Ringland (17 points), Thomas Swartz (13) and Adam Boussatta (11) also reached double digits for Marywood in the win. Mark Parry led the Knights with a game-high 22. He completed a double-double with a game-high 12 rebounds. Swartz led Marywood on the glass with eight boards.

Marywood went into halftime with a three-point, 33-30 lead. Early in the second half the teams traded leads. With Neumann up 47-46, Rhoden hit a jumper to put the Pacers up one.  Back-to-back layups from Ringland and Rhoden had Marywood on a 6-0 run, and a pair of Donovan Catchings free throws extended the run to 8-0 and gave Marywood a 54-47 lead before Neumann's Isiaiah Wilmore hit a jumper to end the Pacers' streak.

Neumann rallied though, and tied the game at 57-57 all on a Parry lay-in with 3:57 to go, but Tone Cockrell hit a three at the other end to give the Pacers the lead for good. Neumann cut the lead to three (65-62) with 2:42 to go on another bucket from Parry, but a quick 5-0 run on a Swartz jumper and traditional three-point play from Ringland gave the Pacers control back and a 70-62 lead.

From there, Marywood made five straight free throws until Cockrell knocked down one last three pointer to secure the win with 12 ticks remaining.

Marywood hit 48.2% (27 of 56) of their field goals for the game and went 15 of 18 (83.3%) from the charity stripe. Neumann shot 41.5% from the floor but hit just 8 of 17 freebies (47.1%).

Marywood travels to Immaculata University Saturday, weather depending. Please check www.marywoodpacers.com for updates.
