Men's Soccer Slips to Cabrini Despite Fuchs' Two Goals

Scranton, Pa. – Cabrini University came back from a goal down to defeat Marywood University in the second half Wednesday in Atlantic East Conference men's soccer action. The Pacers fall to 6-10 overall and 1-3 in conference play with two pivotal games against Immaculata University and Wesley College remaining.

Richard Fuchs doubled his season total with two goals. A mere 35 seconds after the Pacers let in an own goal, Fuchs stopped a ball on his chest to foot before hooking into the far post from 12 yards out for an equalizer. Fuchs gave Marywood a 2-1 advantage in the 51st minute when he found the far post on a 15-yard shot.

Cabrini evened the score in the 58th minute. Dani Acevedo delivered a cross to the far right side where Nick Booth pinched a ball into the near upper corner. The Cavaliers scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute. Josh Cunningham hit a 40-yard long ball to net. Dakota Bauer headed the ball down where Matt Duddy one-timed it into the goal from 3 yards.

The Cavaliers out-shot the Pacers 14-11 and 8-6 on target. Both goalkeepers finished with three saves, and each team had four corner kicks.

Marywood travels to Wesley College to take on the Wolverines in a pivotal Atlantic East matchup on Saturday night.
