Pacers Kickstarts Atlantic East Competition with Three Wins

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University got a taste of Atlantic East Conference swimming and diving competition with three of four victories in a tri-match Saturday. The Pacers women swept Immaculata University (201-34) and Marymount University (135-125), and the men split with a win over the Mighty Macs (126-45) and a loss to the Saints (129-91).

Christine Llewellyn won three individual races and a relay to lead the Pacers. Llewellyn claimed the 200 free in 2:04.04. She took first in both sprints and distance, winning the 50 free in 26.97 seconds and 500 free in 5:51.36

Gabby Cholish also heralded the Pacers with a pair of first-place finishes. She was the top finisher in the 200 fly in 2:31.9, and she garnered the top spot in the 200 back in 2:25.36. Cholish came just seven-hundredths of a second shy of taking the 100 butterfly.

Bri Koehnke helped give Marywood a distinct advantage in the dual meet scoring. Koehnke tallied 222.6 points, beating out four University of Scranton divers that participated as non-scorers.

Marywood's women's 200 medley relay of Llewellyn, Maia Clasby, Cholish and Hannah Darmofal was victorious with a time of 2:02.04. The Pacers' men's quartet of Bobby Wishart, Kaiden Estep, Kyle Calamia and Jason Lee had the top spot in the same event.

Estep won both breaststroke races. He touched first in the 100 breast (1:06.35) and 200 breast (2:29.97).

Daniel Shannon dropped 1.47 seconds in his first-place 1000 free swim. Shannon completed the race in 12:23.02.

Marywood looks to shine at the Diamond City Invitational at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center in Wilkes-Barre next weekend.
