Pacers Topple Griffins to Advance to Atlantic East Semi

Jordan Vossler eclipses 2,000 digs for her career with 40 in the first round

Scranton, Pa. – Fourth-seeded Marywood University reached the Atlantic East Conference volleyball semifinal for the second consecutive season with a 3-1 victory over Gwynedd Mercy University Tuesday in the first round. The Pacers will travel to No. 1 Marymount University on Thursday.

Marywood (14-18) won by scores of 25-21, 18-25, 25-13, 25-19. It marked the Pacers' fifth consecutive win. 

Jordan Vossler became the first Marywood player to reach 2,000 career digs. Needing three, Vossler registered a season-high 40 digs to stand at 2,037 for her career. Vossler also added three aces, and she did not have any receiving errors in 30 returns.

Peri Sheerin overcame early offensive battles with a game-high 16 kills and two aces.

Ashley King and Nicole Cashman reach provided nine kills for the Pacers. King had a team-best .231 attack percentage and tallied two blocks.

Sara Burgos eclipsed her career-best for season assists with 40 on the night. She has tallied 35-plus assists in each of the past four matches. Along with three aces, Burgos added 11 digs for a double-double.

Five Pacers reached double figures defensively. Brenna Kelley had her highest dig total since 2017 with 12 digs. Sam Compton had 11 digs, and Donna Bostjancic set a career-high of 11 digs.

Bridget McTamney had 21 assists and 15 digs for the Griffins. Cait Saalfrank totaled 38 digs.

Marywood fell to the Saints 25-14, 25-14, 25-20 in the regular season.
