River Hawks Jump Out in Both Halves to Sink Pacers

Scranton, Pa. - Double-digit starts to start both halves propelled Susquehanna University to sink Marywood University 84-65 in women's basketball on Saturday. The River Hawks opened the game on a 13-point run and followed with an 10-point streak to start the second half. 

The Pacers' two-game winning streak over Susquehanna came to a halt. 

Aryah Aungst led Marywood with 15 points and four steals. Olivia Kosin produced the first double-double of her career with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Cait Reilly reached double figures with 10 points. 

Susquehanna had all five starters in double figures. Amalia Esposito scored 20 points and 11 rebounds. Erin McQuillen (15), Olivia Brandt (13), Nevin Hoenninger (12) and Alexa Petrozzino (10) each provided double-digit efforts. 

Both teams combined for 50 fouls. Neither team had an advantage at the charity stripe with Susquehanna's 64.3 percent clip edging Marywood's 59.3 percent mark. 

Marywood had a 13-4 advantage in steals, and Susquehanna committed 20 fouls to the Pacers' 12. The River Hawks outrebounded Marywood 51-40. Overall, Susquehanna owned the pait, outscoring the Pacers 42-26. 

The Pacers brought the River Hawks' lead to single digits just once when Katie Wolfgang connected on a jump shot to make it 32-24 with 3:53 in the second quarter. 

Marywood is idle until Monday, Jan. 6 when it hosts Penn College.
