Dingwell's Double Overtime Goal Scripts Knowles' First Coaching Victory

Scranton, Pa. – Sophomore Patrick Dingwell scored the game-winning goal in double overtime for an 8-7 victory over Wilkes University Thursday in non-conference men's lacrosse action. It marks the first career victory for first-year head coach Jon Knowles.

Dingwell scored the game-winning goal on a man-up opportunity with 55 seconds remaining in the second overtime period. Eric Morin supplied a pass on the right wing. Dingwell fired a shot from 10 yards out to the inside post to send the Pacers bench running for celebration.

Dingwell was one of three Pacers with two goals, joining Zach Vaughan and Eric Stewart. Zach Beja and Morin each finished with a goal and an assist.

Marywood trailed 7-5 with 8:25 remaining in regulation before making its comeback with three straight man-up goals. Morin ignited the Pacers offense at the 4:01 mark of the fourth quarter.

Fifty-nine seconds later, Vaughan took a Beja pass to the net for the equalizer.

Wilkes' Nico Lorenzo had a potential goal called off at the first overtime buzzer. After picking up a ground ball behind the net, Lorenzo scored but officials ruled that it came after the buzzer.

Joseph Guida and Zach Bradbury finished with six ground balls for the Pacers. Stewart and Luke Shedler each had five ground balls. Bradbury was 12 of 20 at the faceoff.

Freshman Connor Reed earned a victory in his first decision with 13 saves. His counterpart Carter Whittemore posted 12 stops.

Marywood hosts Hood College on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
