Men's Lacrosse Slips to Golden Eagles, 9-5

Scranton, Pa. - St. Joseph's College (L.I.) broke open a second quarter tie for a 9-5 victory over Marywood University in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday. The Golden Eagles scored three different goals within 15 seconds of a faceoff opportunity. 

With a 3-3 tie, the Golden Eagles outscored the Pacers 6-2 over the last 32 minutes of regulation. 

Matt Mitarotonda led the Pacers with two goals and two assists. Eric Morin finished with two goals. 

Connor Reed made 10 saves and collected seven ground balls. Hunter Fountain had five ground balls, and Justin Einwechter totaled three ground balls. 

St. Joseph's received a hat trick from Tim McCann. Mike McCarthy also had three points on a goal and two assists. The Golden Eagles were aided by the goalkeeping tandem of Adam Sivon (10 saves) and Andrew Brust (six saves.) 

The Golden Eagles outshot the Pacers by a 39-35 margin. The Golden Eagles won 10 of 15 faceoff chances. 

Marywood hosts Utica College on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
