Butash Garners First Victory as Head Coach

Clermont, Fla. - John Butash earned his first career coaching victory as Marywood University prevailed over Lasell College 9-5 Tuesday in Spring Break softball action.

Kirstie Alvarez (1-1) pitched a complete game for the win. The Pacers improved to 1-2 on the young season with the win while Lasell fell to 0-3. 

Kaitlyn Epler, Megan Gaeb, Annie Heyen and Hannah Docalovich each had two hits in the win. Gaeb, Alvarez and Kate O'Meara all had doubles while Epler hit her first triple of the year.

Marywood built a 4-0 lead through two innings of play before allowing Lasell back into the game after giving up three runs in the top of the third. After Lasell tied the game in the fourth, Marywood used a three-run fifth to put the game away.

Marywood is right back at it at 11:15 am when they take on Concordia Chicago in a single game.
