Pacers Bats Fall Cold to Cabrini

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University was swept by first-place Cabrini University Monday in Atlantic East Conference baseball action. The Pacers fell by scores of 11-2 and 12-5.

Jake Schuster hit his sixth home run of the season in the opener. Despite going 2 for 7 in the series, Schuster reached the warning track or beyond four times. He finished the day with three runs, two RBI and a double.

Marywood cut a seven-run deficit to five in the bottom of the eighth of the nightcap. Bubba Klein hit a bases-loaded double to center field to score two runs to make it a 9-4 deficit. Cabrini responded with three runs in the ninth.

Bubba Klein went 3 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. Michael Tempel hit safely three times, and John Mandarano finished with a 2 for 4 performance at the plate with a run and two RBIs.

T.J. Lacey did not allow an earned run in four innings of relief.

Cabrini's Mike Gama earned the victory with four no-hit innings pitched out of the bullpen. He struck out three and allowed just one more than the minimum.

Marywood heads to Wilkes-Barre Township to take on King's College on Tuesday. The Pacers knocked off the Monarchs 11-10 in late March at Pacer Field.
