Men's Lacrosse Hangs with No. 7 Cabrini, Falls 11-2 in Atlantic East Showdown

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University became the first team in five seasons to lose a conference game to Cabrini University by single digits. The Pacers fell 11-2 to the No. 7 Cavaliers on Wednesday in Atlantic East Conference competition.

It marks the closest Marywood has come within the Cavaliers since 2011. That season, Marywood fell to Cabrini 9-6 in the championship game and 12-4 in the regular season.

Cabrini (9-2, 2-0 Atlantic East) extends its conference winning streak to 117 games.

Zach Vaughan scored both of Marywood's goals. Luke Shedler had a pair of assists.

Matt Leen made 21 saves in goal for the Pacers with five ground balls.

The Pacers (4-6, 1-1 Atlantic East) were helped by Justin Einwechter's seven ground balls. Luke McFadden garnered four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Seth D'Ver provided Marywood with five ground balls. Jeff Johnsen contributed four ground balls.

Bill Morgan scored five goals for the Cavaliers. Riley White made 13 saves. Luke McCallion won 90 percent of his faceoffs.

Cabrini led by five through midway in the second period. Vaughan ended the scoreless drought when he released a turnaround shot from the ground with 3:23 to send the Pacers to halftime with just a 5-1 disadvantage.

Cabrini edged the Pacers 41-39 in ground balls.

Marywood will host Marymount University on Saturday at 6 pm. The two teams have faced one in the ECAC playoffs. Marymount knocked the Pacers out of the first round with a 13-4 win in 2014.
