Pacers Swept by Misericordia in Softball

Dallas, Pa. - Misericordia University improved to 19-7 on the year with a pair of non-conference wins over Marywood University Wednesday afternoon. The Cougars beat the Pacers 8-3 and 5-1.

Marywood fell to 9-13 with the loss.

After Misericordia scored two runs in both the first and second innings of the opener, Marywood answered when Kirstie Alvarez hit a three-run homer to left.  But the Cougars would answer back with three runs in the fourth and add another in the fifth to complete the 8-3 win.

Game two remained tight throughout, thanks to a strong starting performance on the mound from Amanda Bridgwood. Bridgwood Struck out two over five innings of work before being relieved.

Misericordia finally broke things open with three runs in the fifth and another two in the sixth.  Marywood's lone run came in the top of the seventh when Alvarez tripled and scored on a throwing error from the outfield.

Marywood will host Immaculata University Saturday in a Atlantic East Conference twinbill.
