Franklin and Marshall Spoils Women's Soccer Opener

Lancaster, Pa. - Host Franklin & Marshall College scored twice in the first half and added three second half tallies as the Diplomats dispatched Marywood in non-conference action to open the 2019 campaign.

In the first ever meeting between the two squads, the hosts came out firing but were held off the board and in check for the game's opening 20 minutes, where Marywood had a couple chances too.  Things would change course from there, as F&M tallied twice within two minutes.

Meg O'Callahan was the first of five different Diplomats to tally on the evening.  She scored at the 20:16 mark and Delaney Bessell would score around 1:40 later to make it 2-0.

The score would remain that way til the second half when Anna Coleman, Catie Kaseta and Ryan O'Rourke would find the back of the net for the Diplomats. O'Rourke's tally came on a breakaway with 1:11 remaining.

Each of F&M's goals were the first of their collegiate career for the scorers, four of which were by freshman.

Marywood's Bella DiToma made 13 saves on 32 shots from F&M, 18 of which were on frame.  The Pacers had nine shots, seven of which were on target. Shea Olszewski had two shots for the Pacers, both of which were on frame. Two keepers split the shutout for the home squad.

Marywood (0-1) travels to nearby Keystone College Tuesday. Game time is 7:00 pm.
