Ducks' Second Half Goal Mires Pacers in 2-1 Loss

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – A late goal surrendered prevented Marywood University from giving Julie Trott her first field hockey coaching victory. Stevens Institute of Technology scored the game-winning goal with less than 10 minutes remaining to defeat Marywood University 2-1 Saturday at the Vassar College Invitational.

Sara Sterchak and Heather Forbes were both selected to the All-Tournament Team.

The Ducks (1-1) scored the game-winning goal at the 52:50 mark. Michaela Thompson dribbled to the right side and shot into the upper-left corner to break the 1-1 draw.

Marywood evened the game in the 39th minute. Lindsey Quinn tipped in a Heather Forbes shot from 2 yards out for the Pacers' first goal of the season.

Brynn Froelick supplied the Ducks with an early lead at the 8:20 mark. From the left side of the cage, she swept shot a clean strike from 10 yards out.

Gwyneth Gleason had a pair of defensive saves for the Pacers.

In the cage, Kerri Mountz made nine saves. Her counterpart Emily Franco stopped four.

Marywood heads back to the Keystone State to clash with Cedar Crest College in Allentown on Wednesday.
