FDU Rallies for 2-1 Win

Scranton, Pa. - Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham improved to 5-0-1 with a thrilling 2-1 come-from-behind win over Marywood University (1-3) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action.

Marywood scored first, but the Devils added a late first half tally for the equalizer just before the half and the scored the game winner early in the second half before holding off the Pacers.

After a back-and-forth opening 18 minutes of play, Jackie VonItter found Cara Romaniello on the top of the 18. Romaniello touched past a defender and slotted the ball past Ashley Paulino for the first goal of the game.

Despite numerous chances for both teams for the rest of the half, a nifty touch from Erika Pita on a break with 56-ticks left in the half leveled the score.  Amanda Croce sent Pita in on a break just inside the 18, and Pita lofted the ball over a sliding Bella DiToma before finishing into an empty net for the equalizer.

10:27 into the second frame, Mdeline Finnegan sent in a beautiful endline cross that Erica Martins vollied home for the eventual game-winner.

Both teams had a few more chances, including one from Marywood's Antonella Doglio on a direct kick from 35 yards out on the right flank that sailed just over the crossbar.

FDU-Florham had a 23-8 advantage in shots but were limited on dangerous looks as they had nine on frame to Marywood's five.  The Devils also had a 6-2 advantage in corners.

DiToma made a game-high seven stops in the loss.  Paulino had for saves for FDU.

Marywood is at Lycoming Tuesday for a 4:00 pm start.
