Volleyball Tops Ursinus in Five Sets

Peri Sheerin records 17 kills to move within 11 of career plateau

Collegeville, Pa. – Marywood University staved off an Ursinus College comeback by taking the fifth set in extra points for a 3-2 victory Tuesday in women's volleyball. The Pacers earned their second victory over a formidable opponent in as many days.

Marywood won by scores of 25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 18-25, 16-14.

The Pacers secured the victory on a Sam Compton serve that was hit out of bounds by a Bears hitter.

Peri Sheerin posted a team-high 17 kills. With a .086 attack percentage, Sheerin moves within just 11 kills of the 1,000 mark for her career. She also added a solo and assisted block.

Ashley King registered a career-best 10 kills with a .097 attack percentage. King tallied four aces and six digs.

Jordan Vossler led the Pacers defensively with 28 digs. Sam Compton posted 10 digs, three aces and six kills.

Sara Burgos posted a double-double with 26 assists and 13 digs. Mikayla Attwood had three total blocks.

Ursinus' Rachel Girard provided 13 kills and 26 digs.

Marywood looks to even its record on Thursday when it hosts Clarks Summit University at 7:00 pm.
