Field Hockey Extends Win Streak, Downs Riverhawks 6-1

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University used a dominating performance to beat Susquehanna University for the first time since 2007.  The Pacers won their third in a row with a 6-1 drubbing of the Riverhawks.

Marywood scored on three of their first four shots of the game.  After an opening shot by Lindsey Gladden was saved, Gladden found Angela Sanchez 59 seconds later to put the hosts up 1-0 in the ninth minute.  Just over two minutes later, Gladden picked up her second helper of the afternoon when she assisted on Angie Genter's tally in the 11th minute as Marywood built a 2-0 lead.

A minute and a half later, a Marywood penalty corner resulted in the Pacers taking a 3-0 lead.  Sara Sterchak found Lindsey Quinn, who put the ball in the cage for the seventh time this season.

Holding a 3-0 lead well into the second quarter, Marywood tacked on another with just over two minutes remaining til halftime as Genter put another one in off a feed from Sanchez.

Jenna Dickey extended the Marywood lead to 5-0 as Gladden picked up her third assist on the afternoon.  Susquehanna ruined the shutout bid a minute and a half into the fourth quarter on a goal from Jadyn Brezinski, but the Pacers built back up their five-goal cushion with a penalty stroke goal from Sophia Cesare with two seconds remaining.

Marywood out-shot the Riverhawks 18-7 on the afternoon, placing 14 shots on goal to six for Susquehanna.

Marywood will look to make it four in a row when they host Keystone Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.
