Women's Tennis Picks Up Convincing Win Over Penn College

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University women's tennis shut out Penn College 9-0 in their home opener Saturday afternoon. Marywood improves to 1-0 while Penn falls to 0-2.

In singles, Danielle Ogonowski and Allison Bashore both downed their opponents 6-0 in the first set and 6-2 in the second. Deena Haroun Mahdavi was too much for Penn College's Cassie Shook. Mahdavi blanked Shook 6-0 in both sets. Senior Gina Babcock beat Taylor Shipman 6-1, 6-1 for the Pacers.

In doubles, the seniors Abygail Doud and Mahdavi teamed up to outscore Tijana and Shook 8-1. Ogonowski and Bashore had a convincing win over Olivia Eisenhauer and Alexis Youse (8-1). In the third set of doubles, Brooke Panek and Lyndsey Medric came out on top 8-2 over the Wildcats duo of Deidre Satterly and Shipman.

The Pacers will be traveling to Goucher College for a three day invitational, starting Friday September 27th.
