Pacers Compete at Goucher Invitational

Invitational Results

Baltimore, Md. – Marywood University women's tennis competed in the Goucher College Invitational this past weekend. There was no team scoring for the two day event.

Day 1

Marywood struggled in day one, but had a few strong outings. Senior Gina Babcock faced Frostburg University's Rabi Laden in the her first match in flight C. Babcock got off to a good start in the first set only losing 6-4, but in the second set Ladan was able to get the best of Babcock winning 6-0 in the second set. Allison Bashore of Marywood took on Audrey Van Schalkwyk. This match up was back and forth until Van Schalkwyk was able to get the best of Bashore (6-2, 6-4).

In doubles, Brooke Panek and Lyndsey Medric played Sarah Cartwright and Allison Paul of Frostburg. Panek and Medric came up just short falling 6-2, 6-3 in their respective sets.

Day 2

The Pacers were able to turn it around on Day two with senior Danielle Ogonowski winning Marywood first match of the weekend 6-0, 6-1 over Erika Femme. Abygail Doud and Deena Haroun Mahdavi won 2 out their four matches on the day. The Pacer duo beat Frostburg's team of Maddie Toothman and Chrise Jenkins 7-5, 6-4. Dou and Mahdavi faced Immaculata's Jessice Dougherty and Kelly O'Brien. The Marywood due was able to come back after dropping their first set 3-6, they won their next two sets 7-6 (4), 10-3.

The Pacers will be back in action as they travel to Hartwick College on Saturday October 5^th. Match is set to start at 1:00 pm.
