Marywood Sinks Penn State Harrisburg in Four Sets

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University won its fifth in six matches in a 3-1 decision over Penn State Harrisburg Tuesday in women's volleyball. The Pacers defeated the Lions by scores of 25-19, 20-25, 25-13, 25-20 to move above .500 for the second time this season.

Nicole Cashman enjoyed an impressive day from both ends of the court with 10 kills and 11 digs. Cashman committed just two errors on 25 attempts for a .320 attack percentage.

Peri Sheerin finished with a team-high 11 kills. She added two aces for 13 points.

Fresh off of two straight 29-dig performances, Jordan Vossler led the Pacers defensively with 16 digs and added two aces.

Mikayla Attwood was clutch for the Pacers down the stretch with three solo blocks. Sara Burgos supplied 27 assists and nine digs.

Donna Bostjancic set a career-best with nine digs.

Penn State Harrisburg received 17 kills and a .517 attack percentage from Brittany Ebaugh. Megan Morris had 14 digs and a .971 receiving percentage.

As a team, the Pacers held on to a .151 attack percentage to the Lions.' .073 mark. Marywood had just 13 errors – only six errant shots that were not blocked. Both teams had seven aces.

Marywood trailed by as much as 16-13 before turning on for a 12-3 advantage to end the first set. Sam Compton had a kill to even the score at 16-16, and Cashman killed a Vossler feed to take the lead. Harrisburg came within 22-19, but Marywood finished with three straight points.

In the fourth set, the Lions took a 17-16 lead on an attack error. After Sheerin evened the score, Emily O'Brien came off the bench for a four-point serve to supply the Pacers with ample room to finish the match.

Marywood heads to Elizabethtown for three matches against formidable opponents. The Pacers take 2018 NCAA Tournament qualifiers Eastern University, Cortland Tournament champions Baldwin-Wallace and the host Blue Jays.
