Field Hockey Extends Win Streak, Tops King's 3-2

Scranton, Pa. - Angela Sanchez scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, as Marywood University defeated King's College 3-2 in non-conference field hockey action. The win was the Pacers' fifth in a row and they have now won seven of their last eight to improve to 7-3 on the year.

King's fell to 5-5 with the loss.

The two teams traded goals all evening in an evenly played match.  Sanchez opened the scoring for the hosts just 4:08 into Monday's game.  Lindsey Gladden raced down the right flank and crossed the ball into Sanchez, who finished for the opening goal.

King's and Marywood traded goals separated by less than a minute in the second quarter.  Danielle Runo's fifth goal of the year for King's tied things up at 1-1 at the 21:46 mark, but just 59 seconds later Lindsey Quinn's long ball into the arc was one-timed home by Jenna Dickey to put the Pacers back up, 2-1.  It was Dickey's fifth of the season as well.

In the third, King's evened the score at 2-2 when Runo scored again, this time off an assist from Jolee Treslar.  But Marywood responded with a gaol 4:32 into the final quarter, as Sanchez put home a rebound off a save for the game-winning goal.

Marywood out-shot King's 14-11 for the game, but King's had 10 shots on goal to seven for the Pacers.  Kerri Mountz had a game-high six saves in goal for the Pacers, while Emma Lehman made four stops for the Monarchs.  Marisa Mongioi had two key defensive saves for Marywood as well.

The Pacers will look to continue their hot streak when they host Morrisville State College Saturday at 12:00 pm. Marywood's five-game win streak is the longest since they won four in a row in 2009.
