Freshmen Purdy, Bashore Rip Wolverines En Route to First Atlantic East Win

Marywood makes 14 3-pointers at a 48.3 percent clip

Dover, Del. - A pair of freshmen propelled Marywood University to its first Atlantic East Conference women's basketball victory of the season. First-year players Savannah Purdy and Allison Bashore combined for more than half of the Pacers' offensive production in a 85-57 victory over Wesley College Saturday afternoon on the road.

Purdy doubled her total season production with 27 points. With a previous career high of seven points, Purdy made 11 of 14 shots for a 78.5 field goal percentage. She hit all three of her 3-pointer attempts and finished with three steals.

Bashore finished with 17 points, just one short of a career best. Bashore sank five 3-pointers and finished 6 of 9 from the field.

Aryah Aungst flirted with a rare triple-double with nine points, eight steals and seven assists. Cait Reilly came off the bench to score eight points, and Jade Rolon returned to the lineup with eight points. Emily Theobald led the Pacers with eight boards.

Marywood hit 14 of 29 shots from beyond the arc for 48.3 percent. The Pacers held onto the ball for just 10 turnovers and forced 29 Wolverines' giveaways. Marywood outscored Wesle 37-10 in points off turnovers.

Wesley (5-10, 0-4 Atlantic East) received 19 points from Jourdyn Beverly.

Holding on to a four-point lead in the second quarter, Marywood went on a 19-2 point run to extend the lead to 21. Reilly made a 3-point at 5:51 to cap 14 unanswered points in just over two minutes.

The Pacers led by as many as 37.

Marywood (4-9, 1-2 Atlantic East) will take on first-place Cabrini University on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Insalaco Arena.
